Biography
Bishop of Alexandria who spent most of his life fighting Arianism — the heresy that Christ was a created being. Exiled five times by four different emperors for his unwavering defense of Christ's full divinity.
Faith & Testimony
Athanasius stood virtually alone against the world (Athanasius contra mundum) in defending the Nicene Creed and the full deity of Christ. His work On the Incarnation remains a classic of Christian theology. C.S. Lewis wrote the introduction to a modern translation.
