American neurosurgeon and politician who served as the 17th Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (2017-2021). Pioneer in neurosurgery who performed the first successful separation of conjoined twins joined at the head.

A devout Seventh-day Adventist who has spoken extensively about how God guided his journey from poverty in Detroit to becoming one of the world's leading neurosurgeons. His autobiography 'Gifted Hands' details his faith journey.
