NBA Guard
An NBA guard who says his true identity is in Christ, not the game
Biography
American professional basketball guard who starred at Purdue before being selected fifth overall in the 2022 NBA Draft. Known for his explosiveness and downhill scoring, he emerged as one of the league's most openly Christ-centered young players.
Faith & Testimony
Ivey has repeatedly testified that basketball is not his true identity, saying after a game-winning performance in 2024 that 'Your identity in Christ is really what matters at the end of the day.' In public remarks he has declared that 'Jesus is the way, the truth, the life,' urged people to repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ, and spoken about Christ dying for sinners so they can be with God forever. In longer-form testimony he has also described personally giving his life to Christ, resting in His grace, and finding peace that does not disappear with wins or losses. His public baptism and repeated witness across multiple seasons make his testimony stronger than generic athlete God-talk.
