Biography
English Puritan clergyman known for his devotional writing and pastoral warmth. He ministered in Dartmouth, England, and his works were widely read for their deep piety and practical application.
Faith & Testimony
Flavel's Keeping the Heart is considered one of the finest Puritan devotional works. He wrote: 'The soul of religion is the practical part.' Ejected from his pulpit by the Act of Uniformity, he continued preaching in secret — sometimes in the woods, sometimes at sea — risking imprisonment for the gospel.
