Biography
English writer, philologist, and academic, best known for 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings.' Professor of Anglo-Saxon at Oxford University.

A devout Roman Catholic whose faith deeply influenced his literary works. He was instrumental in C.S. Lewis's conversion to Christianity. He described 'The Lord of the Rings' as 'a fundamentally religious and Catholic work.'
