December 12, 1840 – December 24, 1912

Missionary to China

Gave everything — including her life — for missions in China

Biography

American Southern Baptist missionary who served in China for nearly 40 years. She spent her life evangelizing and advocating for mission support. The annual Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for international missions, named in her honor, has raised billions of dollars.

Faith & Testimony

Moon gave everything for the gospel in China, eventually dying of starvation because she had given all her food to starving Chinese during a famine. Her sacrificial example inspired the Southern Baptist Convention's largest missions offering, still collected annually.
