Biography

English Methodist leader and hymn writer who composed over 6,500 hymns, making him one of the most prolific hymn writers in history. Brother of John Wesley, he was a co-founder of Methodism and a tireless evangelist who preached throughout England.

Faith & Testimony

Charles experienced a definitive conversion on Pentecost Sunday 1738, three days before his brother John's famous Aldersgate experience. His hymns — including 'And Can It Be,' 'Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,' and 'O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing' — are masterful expressions of evangelical theology set to music.
