Biography
Italian-born Reformed theologian who fled Italy for his evangelical convictions and became one of the most respected Protestant theologians of the 16th century. He held prestigious positions at Strasbourg, Oxford, and Zurich, and was influential in shaping the English Reformation.
Faith & Testimony
Vermigli was an Augustinian monk who became convinced of Reformed theology through studying Scripture and reading the early church fathers. His commentaries on Romans and 1 Corinthians were widely read across Europe. He represented the truly international character of the Reformation.
